From October 4th to 10th, 2021, I embarked on a solitary journey to Norway, my first lone expedition, outside my professional engagements. My expedition began with a two-day exploration of Oslo before I rented a car and ventured forth, traversing the breadth of Norway from the urban landscapes of Oslo to the coastal beauty of Bergen.
This expedition marked a significant personal achievement. Although I had traveled alone for business, with occasional detours for leisure, this trip was a divergence from my usual travel pattern.Â
This time, it was just me and the open road.
After enduring the long Covid-19 lockdowns, I seized the opportunity to fulfill a dream. As the trip approached, apprehension took hold, and the thought of cancellation loomed over me. Fortunately, my resolve held firm. Apart from securing my stays, I approached the itinerary with flexibility, allowing spontaneity to guide my Norwegian exploration.
Norway, much like its Nordic siblings, had long captured my imagination with its stark natural beauty, expansive landscapes, and echoes of Viking lore. It’s a land where nature’s majesty reigns supreme, with towering fjords, captivating vistas, sprawling glaciers, winding tunnels, and the warmth of its people. The journey was as much about the external voyage as it was an internal one, allowing me to connect with myself and experience moments in their most unadulterated form. It was a voyage of enrichment and self-discovery.
The seeds of this trip were sown by an unexpected source of inspiration—akin to a messenger. These emissaries may fleetingly pass through our lives, but the messages they impart can catalyze profound transformations. Norway was just that for me—a messenger bearing a life-altering revelation.
Below, you’ll find the route of my travels and a collection of moments captured in photographs from my excursion.
